just not enough

Well, as it happens sometimes, I'm sad to say that I'll be stepping away from my blog for awhile.  Life is getting too hectic around here and somethings gotta' give.  There is just not enough time in my day anymore.  Between being mom, wife, full time teacher, and trying to build a house, I'm feeling spread a little thin these days.  I'm not giving myself a time limit or going to say when I'll be back, only that I need a break and need to spend some time focusing on other things right now.  So I'll see you around, catch ya later and in awhile crocodile!

friday's five: it begins again

I know what you're probably thinking, friday what??  It's been awhile but I think it may be time to bring back friday's five.  I have to admit, I've been looking back at some of my older posts and found I missed doing my friday's five.  Also, I'm looking for a couple ways to re-inspire myself and my blog.  So why not go back to doing something I enjoy, and here it is ... Welcome Back Friday's Five!!

This week F's five is dedicated to Liam's big boy room.  As we wait for our drawings to be approved and finished (yup building a new house) I am constantly thinking about decorating the crap out of it.  Literally.  I go to sleep thinking about the house.  I wake up thinking about the house.  All of my conversations with the husband are something house related.  Seriously I think I may have a problem.  Anyways, back to Liam's room.  I'm excited about decorating a room for a little boy (rather than a gender neutral nursery) because it will all be about him, all for him.  Thanks pinterest for all the wonderful ideas, let the creative juices flow.

a plague is upon us

Today I was at home with one sick little man, the husband had yesterday's shift.  Liam's full of snot, coughing up his lungs and running a fever.  He hasn't eat much and all he wants to do is sleep (a total of four one hour plus naps today alone).  He hasn't been sick like this since last February!  I feel so bad for him because all I want to do is make him better ... and I can't.  But I can sit and watch 'The Incredibles' with him, snuggle and cuddle with him all day and have him fall asleep in my arms (he hasn't done this since he was little little).  Here's hoping the snotty cough gods leave our house soon!  Please send the feel better vibes our way.

making the most of ...

... pumpkins!  Yes I do realize that halloween was a week ago.  But we had the halloween that just kept on going giving.  Every halloween as the husband and I carve the pumpkins I always say "maybe this year I should roast the seeds."  And every year I don't do it.  That is until this halloween.  I actually took the time to pull out the seeds, save them, wash them, spice them and finally roast them.  They're delicious.  It took no time at all really.  Just a few minutes to decide what sort of seeds I wanted.  Savoury?  Salty?  Spiced?  Sugar and Spice?  Or roast just as is?  Finally settled on sugar and spice (because obviously I needed more sugar)  Found this great recipe and 50 minutes later we had our sugary spiced up treat.  Pumpkin seeds are healthy right?  That's what I'll tell myself to quiet the recent chocolate guilt.

happy roasting!

wordless(ish) wednesday: its only wednesday

Well, my attempt to complete a third week of 'what i wore wednesday' was an utter failure.  I just didn't have the motivation to take photos of myself this past week.  That's not to say that I didn't get dressed or anything, but ya know.  Maybe this week will be better.  Something I'm trying out is to not set a particular schedule for any of my posts.  I have found that it I do that I'll miss a post and end up feeling slightly guilty for it.  Totally shouldn't, but do.  So if I make for 'what i wore' next week ... then I make it.  In the meantime, enjoy a photo this Wednesday.

hunting for pumpkins

Saturday brought a bunch of Halloween fun.  Not only did we go to a wicked awesome rad fun Halloween party, but Saturday morning headed out to the farm for some good old fashion pumpkin hunting.  Butterfield Acres (a farm pretty close to our house with a rather large petting zoo) has an annual month long pumpkin hunt during October.  I've always wanted to go and last year I really wanted to go.  Liam was way too little.  Don't think a four month old would be all that amused by hunting for a squash.  This year he was mildly entertained, and here 's hoping that by next year he'll be totally into it.  Hunting for pumpkins was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

steppin' out saturday ~ halloween spooktacular

Last night we went out to our first Kids Halloween Party.  I can honestly say that I prefer this kind of party, mainly because I have absolutely no hangover this morning ... perhaps a little bit of a lingering sugar high, but no groggy headache.  Friends of ours decided last minute to throw said party and it was a blast.  Unfortunately Liam only lasted an hour, thank goodness for travel cribs!  Even still it was a great night!  Good food, sugary treats, awesome friends and karaoke.   Thanks for a great time D & J!

our weekend

About a month ago I finally got with the times and got me an iphone (really I was tired of hearing "if you don't have an iphone ... you don't have an iphone").   I have an ipod touch so really I figured why did I need an iphone?  I am now a believer that I can no longer function with just a regular 'ol cell phone.  (how did we ever survive without cell phones?  oh ya, remember those things called pay phones?)  So now with the iphone in tow, I can take photos while we are out and about.  (how much do I love instagram?)  And that was what our weekend was all about.  Out running running around, play time with friends, and coffee with the girls.  I wish that everyday was the weekend ... but still made the same working pay cheque.  Don't we all.

what a way to start huh?  nothing waffles can't fix

old man farfie

Liam totally loves walking with his walk'n'ride.  He got this so long ago, 6 weeks after he was born actually.  I love that he looks like such a little old man when he's walking with it.  Guess there are two points in a person's life when a walker is necessary.  Go Liam Go!

Happy Friday Friends!

girls weekend!!

Two weekends ago I was so lucky to spend some quality time with some of my bestest girlfriends.  I have known these women for years.  Most of them a decade, some of them longer.  There once was a time when we would get together at least once a weekend to party it up.  But then we got married and started our families.  We've hit that point.  The point where you only see your friends every three months. (it's true, some how 3 months passed us by)  Not because you don't want to, or don't think about it.  But life has a funny way of taking over.  I'm totally guilty of getting wrapped up in my own life and all the things we do as a family.  But sometimes there is a need for the girls to get together and remember how much fun we all have.  I haven't laughed like that in months.

Thanks so much for a wicked weekend ladies.
You rock my world and I'm better for knowing all of you!

fifteen and counting

So this time last year I was starting to feel settled with my new baby boy, wow can things change in a year. Um, who am I kidding?  Things can have changed so much this past month!  Jeez, before I know it he'll be driving a car (how many times have you heard that from someone?)

~ gives tons and tons of kisses. wet. slobbery. kisses.
~ still not walking by himself (all in his own time), but walks with his walk'n'ride
he's so proud.
~ says ca and daw (cat and dog ... for those who don't speak 15 month old), hi, dad, ma ma, uh-oh, and babbles so much more.  he seriously gets upset when he's talking and no one is paying attention.
he's got a lot to say this kid.
~ when we go to the park he only wants to play on the slide and only wants to go down it by himself
~ absolutely hates socks and pulls them off immediately after I put them on (and thinks is hilarious)
~ using a spoon most of the time, endless amounts of yogurt in his hair
~ loves, loves, loves his dad, totally melts my heart every time I see these two guys together.
they are super best friends ; )
~ pulls all of his books off the shelf and reads every one of them, just not at the same time.
pull a book off, look at it, sit down, open it, stand up.  repeat.
~ who needs toys when there is a remote control or cordless phone around.
both Liam's current favourites.
~ he knows that he is Liam and the Farf, we call him both
~ he shares very well.  his food.  his toys.  his books.  fluff on the floor.

Happy 15 months little man!
Here's to our next month of adventures.

exciting news

Nope, not pregnant.  But I know that's what you were thinking.  Funny ... every time I tell someone that we have news, they automatically think that I'm pregnant.  Not in a bad way, but other news can be just as exciting people.

So, our exciting news is that we are moving up in the world of houses.  We have come to realize that our tiny 2 bedroom house is just that.  A tiny two bedroom house.  It has suited us just fine and met all of our needs more than adequately.  Until now.  Who knew that someone much smaller than the husband or I could have so much stuff?!?!  I mean really who needs all of those toys, or a playpen, or an exersaucer that he doesn't use anymore.  This is what has pushed us into the decision that we need more space (let's face it we'll just end up filling that up too right?)

We started our search with existing homes and quickly realized that we are way way way too picky to move into something already built. (we built our current home) So we're going to build another one.  Not too big, 2200 sq. feet, but big enough to spread around and perhaps one day add to our family.  I'm super excited to have storage that doesn't involve playing Jenga with our boxes and all the stuff.  Our possession date is mid-July but we'll see, fingers are crossed it's earlier.  I'm totally pumped to start picking everything out.  My pinterest obsession has exponentially increased as a result.
