steppin' out ~ birthday birthday birthday

Hi!  Remember me??  Yup, I know it's been awhile.  Things have been a little crazy around our house.  July just seems to be a really busy month.  We have a few birthdays to celebrate, our anniversary, the stampede has started...  I'm sure I could come up with a million other excuses as to why I've been a neglectful blogger.  But alas, I won't subject you to them.  Let's just say...I was taking a little bit of a break to enjoy the summer fun.  And summer fun has been a plenty.  This weekend was jam packed.  We had a stellar shindig at our place on Friday night to celebrate that I'm another year older.  This was the first adult party we've had since 2009.  And, Liam had his first sleep over at Gramma and Papa's.  He did okay, there was some crying and he was up more then usual.  But otherwise it was a success!

Saturday was spent recouping from Friday nights festivities as well as a Spiderman birthday in the park.  Liam played with rocks, did some swingin', ate some cake and hung out with his friends.

The Spiderman cake!  His mom is an amazing cake creator!!

It was a fantastic weekend!!  Now onto another busy week ahead.  Liam's first birthday is quickly approaching.  I'll do a preview post later this week.  Happy Monday all.

Hope you had a great weekend!  Can we get a quick vote?

steppin' out {friday} ~ it's a date

Yay for Friday date night!!  Liam got to spend the evening hanging out with Papa and Gramma Jan while Rob and I went out for a fab dinner! (or rather Papa and Gramma hung out while Liam slept) It was nice hanging out with the husband and getting a little dressed up, we gotta' do this more often.

Oh ya...hope you don't mind the pretend model poses (fence inspired by Mandy's photos)  I was being a huge dork while Rob was "shooting" me and these were the only ones I was willing to share with the entire world, there were some pretty hilarious ones.  I'm definitely NOT going to quit my day job.  ; )

Steppin' Out {Sunday} ~ Eastertastic

This morning we woke up ridiculously early...for no apparent reason other than Liam was up and talking to himself...at 6:30.  Someone needs to remind this kid that just because the sun is up doesn't necessarily mean that it's time to get up.  At any rate, we sat and read the Sunday morning paper...best thing to do that early anyways, then headed to Gramma Betty's house for Easter Brunch...a few hours later.  Yummy eggs in a basket, bacon (best part about any breakfast), hot cross buns and fruit salad.  The fruit was once again completely refused by Liam...I keep trying hoping for a different result, isn't that the definition of insanity??

From there we went to visit Grampa Jim's memorial tree, Liam got to meet the tree for the first time and we said hi to Grampa Jim in heaven.  It's been 9 years since Rob lost his dad, it makes me very sad that Liam won't get to know him, he was a great guy and would've been such a fun Grampa.

ummm....yes please

A couple'a days ago while catchin' up on some blog reading, Liam and I stumbled upon one of Mandy's (Harper's Happenings) new sponsors...Ruche.  Um, this place is fantastic and they ship to Canada (not many super fantastic places from the States do).  It's all vintage inspired and I'm super excited about everything they have.  So much so, I placed my first order this morning, very cute summery dress (coincidentally called summer lovin') and a pretty cool necklace.  I can see many, many, many more purchases in my future.  Sorry wallet...

I totally encourage everyone to check this place out, if you haven't already...I think I might be in love (definitely in lust...)

Thanks Mandy for introducing me to Ruche (not sure my husband does *smile*).  I have already spent far too much time drooling over their dresses and shoes (Liam has too).  Can't wait for the mailman to bring me my new pretties. ♥

Steppin' Out {Sunday} ~ Baby Shower

Woo hoo...Spring has finally arrived (I do realize that by saying this I am ensuring another dump of snow).  Can I just say how much I love the weekend...lazy Saturday morning breakfast with my two guys, laundry (I actually didn't mind doing it this weekend...broke it up into a two day affair and it was mildly enjoyable...stress mildly).  Rob and Liam had some Daddy fun time at the park while I went and got my hair did (of course there are pics....and yup....it's drastic!)  And today we headed out to a baby shower to welcome Baby Tristan to our fabulous world and celebrate with his two amazing parents, Andria and James.

Baby Showers are exhausting!!

Steppin' Out {Friday} ~ a lazy lunch

Rob took Friday off before leaving for Las Vegas Red Rocks for his climbing trip...so we decided to...step out??? {Yes, I intended to be cheesy}.  Truth be told...I also wanted to be sure I could wear these shoes...I'm secretly in love with them.  And there was a winter storm warning issued for Saturday, up to 20 cm of snow before morning on Sunday.  YAY...winter continues {please note the sarcasism}.   To pretend it was actually a season called Spring, got some spring-y stuff, seeds and seeding trays to...start seeding.  Then went out for the best sandwiches...the Lazy Loaf and Kettle...actually I think I'm in love with  these sandwiches too.  Good beginning to the weekend.

so damn delcious

I love family fun day...

Steppin' Out {Sunday}

Still snowy and gross today...not sure we're ever going to get Spring?!?  We had a first birthday party to attend this afternoon, I'm already getting ideas for Liam's.  Sorry no picture with shoes...I was forced into my Uggs as there is an unhappy amount of slushy snow everywhere!  I had every intention of wearing cute shoes, but Mother Nature is refusing to cooperate right now...here's hoping for next weekend.   I'm totally envious of all the Steppin' Out Momma's that are in much warmer climates.

Me:
Sweater ~ Kersh
Tank ~ Old Navy
Jeans ~ Gap
Belt ~ American Eagle {really, really old}
Bracelet ~ H & M

Steppin' Out Saturday

Well, this is my first Steppin' Out Saturday blog.  Mandy from Harper's Happenings does this each week on her blog.  I  love it because it will force me to look "nice" and not be in my t-shirt and jeans mom uniform at least once a week.   It worked out nicely this week too because my great friend Jen had a "Ladies Night Out" at her place last night.  Wine, food, friends and jewelry from Stella and Dot (check out Christie's Stella and Dot page here, beautiful jewelry)

Unfortunately I didn't purchasing any jewelry (very surprising to Rob) but did enjoy "playing dress up" with all of the samples Christie brought.  Here a a couple other pics from our night.

Look at the sexy Mommas!!

Don't forget to check out the other Momma's
