lucky number thirteen

Okay so it was Liam's 13 month "birthday" last Wednesday ... I know I'm a little behind.  Things are moving a little quickly around here.  I go back to work in t - minus 7 days people.  I'm now realizing just how much I'm NOT looking forward to it.  I miss Liam a ton when he is at the day home and am spending as much time as possible hanging out with my little dude.  We've been accomplishing a lot over the last week and I'm even considering keeping him home all day tomorrow just to have a little more mommy baby time.  Is that selfish?  I think not.  Anyways here is a quick update as to what is new and exciting in the world of our 13 month old babe...

~ we've begun to walk ... assisted.  Liam is all about walking everywhere and mommy has to come with (as I am his walker).  I spend my days hunched over as we explore the backyard, every nook and cranny of the house and basically everywhere else in between.  I really enjoy this because I know that as soon as he can do it on his own he be a little independent man.  But, a chiropractor will one day thank him.
~ his curiosity is amazing.  I analyzes everything, constantly asks "wasss yasss" (translation: what's this?), points to things he wants to touch, move, look at, play with, figure out, put in his mouth.  I love it! Everything is so new.
~ it is all about the animals.  Liam is obsessed with cats and dogs.  It is so funny and ridiculously cute when he sees either.  He goes nuts and will do just about anything just to get closer to them and "pet" them.  In other words bash them on the head until he gets a reaction from them.  He also loves getting kisses from puppies.  I think a dog will be in our future ... very near future?
~ his current favourite toy is his weeble bus, but he only plays with the red weeble.  Seriously, if the yellow weeble is anywhere in sight he'll stop playing, crawl over to it and throw it so it is outta' sight.
~ he's been doing some growing and we are now nearing the end of his 6 - 12 month clothing (when and got him some super cute fall clothes on the weekend)
~ Liam's finally learned to say mum mum mum mum mum mum mum mum, all day long.  I love it.  For awhile there it was only about dadadadadadadadadadada.  ; )
~ he claps, waves and gives a high five to anyone willing.

Can't wait to see what new things he does this month.  Perhaps he'll walk on his own.  Happy Monday!

lets swap

Well apparently it's some how the middle of August ... which means September is just around the corner.  Think we're going to try something new.  How's about a sponsor swap?  For those not in the know here's the low down.  It's real simple.  I'll display your fancy (doesn't really need to be fancy) blog button for the month of September and you do the same for me.  You'll also be featured in a "get to know the sponsors" post some time that month.  Simple right?

If you're interested just drop us a line at livinmjsdream@gmail.com and send us the following:

~ your 150x150 button
~ a short{ish} blurb about who you are (obviously), your blog and any other pages associated with you (ie. etsy, facebook, twitter)

parting is such sweet sorrow

Last week was Liam's first couple mornings at the day home, yesterday being the third.  Day 1, no tears and had a blast playing with the puppy and the "big" kids.  I on the other hand cried my way to the car and then all the way to the gym ... and cried a little more there too.  Day 2, no crying when I left but Liam cried once he realized I wasn't there anymore.  Day 3, Liam was way more interested in the puppy and he cried only a little when I left.  The only thing that doesn't make me burst into tears everyday when I leave him (yup all three times) is knowing the reaction that awaits when I pick him up for lunch.  "MA MA MA!!" With out stretched arms trying to grab onto me and never let go. Oh yeah and I guess I'm also not crying because I know he is in good hands, that's really important too right?

Alas, in two weeks my year of maternity leave is over and I'm heading back to work full time.  I'm not sure how I totally feel about this yet either.  Truth be told ... there is a small part of me that is looking forward to getting back to a career that I love (yes I do love my job and going to it everyday most days).  BUT ... and this is a big BUT.  I don't want to leave my son.  I want to be the one to hang out and play, walk around the house in circles all day, make a mess with yogurt and cheesy noodles, think that a night light is the most interesting thing ever, and nap.  Now someone else will be doing that with him.  Not me.  People tell me that it gets easier and that it is always harder on mom then on baby.  We'll see.  I'm pretty sure that every morning that I drop him off I will be a little sad.  And every afternoon when I pick him up it will be swept aside by happiness and hugs.
