wordless(ish) wednesday: snow sir

it hasn't really felt like winter at all around here.  usually we're up to our eyeballs in snow.  either this means our winter is almost over or the worst has yet to come.  i'm hoping for over, but mother nature can be cruel that way.  then again, because of the lack of snow we've hardly taken liam out in his sleigh.  we've gone lots for walks.  but it's just not the same.  silently and secretly i'm wishing for a huge snow storm.  one that would mean a snow day or two.  then we could go out and sleigh and make snow angels to our hearts content.  until then i guess we're just waiting.

happy wednesday ... the week is half over.
we're linking up with project alicia and the paper mama

lucky thirteen

on tuesday we had our first ultrasound and got to see baby 2 for the first time.  it was a relief to see that yes there was a baby and yes there was only one.  we've been getting comments from pretty much everyone around us "wouldn't that be funny if you were having twins?"  no!  it would not be funny.  don't even joke about that.  i guess people thought that because i was so sick during the last seven weeks and that i look about 5 months pregnant already, i must be having twins.  thank god we are not.  i don't think i could handle being out numbered.  at least with two there is an even parent to child ratio.

the other night i came across this blog.  not only were her weekly blackboards gorgeous, it was also genius.  i wish i wasn't so artistically challenged.  also i loved how she used the same set of questions each week throughout her pregnancy.  kinda' keeps things consistent.  i'm going to start doing the same from now on.   i'm just finding it hard to actually remember where i put my keys let alone the important pregnancy milestones each week.  so here goes:

how far along?  13 weeks, 3 days
total weight gain: up 4 lbs for the first trimester.  weighed 138 at my first weigh in last thursday.
maternity clothes?  a few tops because they hide the bella-band better, normal jeans with bella-band
stretch marks?  nada
sleep:  wish i could all the time.  i look forward to going to bed as soon as i wake up in the morning.  should get better soon.
best moment this week:  got to see baby 2 for the first time at our ultra-sound on tuesday and heard babe's heartbeat on thursday (160 bpm)
miss anything?  beer, i've had an unusual craving for a damn good beer.  wasn't a huge beer drinker before, liked it well enough.  but i'd give my right arm if it meant i could have one right now.  i've got quite a few months to go before that one happens.
movement:  nope, it's probably gas.  but baby was a mover and shaker during the ultrasound
food cravings:  cereal, especially chocolate cheerios, cantaloupe and egg salad sandwiches
anything making your queasy or sick:  poultry was, it might be changing.  fish, definitely fish.
gender:  unknown, still a few weeks away
labour signs:  not for a while yet
symptoms:  nausea is letting up.  hurray for the second trimester!  heartburn has set in, even water triggers it.  bring on the extra strength zantac.
belly button in or out?  in
wedding rings on or off?  wedding and engagement ring on
happy or moody most of the time?  happy.  but i think this is a result of not be nauseous anymore.  i mean really who could be happy when you feel like you're going to lose your cookies at any and every moment of the day?
looking forward to:  finding out baby's gender and starting to feel baby kicks.

nursery planning for the new house

way way way back when, you may have recalled that we started the process of building a new house.  talk about good timing.  we're gonna need it now that we're adding to the family.  our current house only has two bedrooms upstairs.  not that it would be a travesty if our kids were to share a room.  anyways.  we are still at the exact same spot we were when i first posted about the house.  there has been nothing done by the builder in the last five months!!  not even a hole.  initially we were given a possession date of july 15th.  fat chance now.  i think we'll be lucky to get in by september ... eleven months after we started.

i'm undecided whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.  it could go either way.  good in the respect that maybe it'll be easier to move after baby has been born.  i won't be super duper pregnant anymore and really a newborn sleeps, eats and poops.  it will be tricky with liam.  i think the gramma's will have to step in on that one.  he does have three you know.   but it could be bad too.  with a brand new baby all i'll want to do is hang out and snuggle with liam, baby and husband all day.  not unpack boxes and figure out a new house.

instead of dwelling on these unhappy, uncontrollable things i shall focus on happier thoughts.  like decorating the new nursery.  i would like to send out a huge thank you to the creators of pinterest.  it has really fuelled an obsession.  if i had an unlimited supply of time, i would diy every awesome idea and make/bake/cook everything i drooled over.  but i don't so the focus is on creating a lovely new nursery.  and there is an abundance of inspiration.

if we are entering girl world with baby 2, then i'm totally on board with the purple/lilac nursery.  i've never been one for pink everything.  but purple i can handle.  i'm in love with the tree and hoping that we can pull something like this off too.

more tree inspiration.

in the event that we are having a second boy, not in a bad way, i don't want to go blue.  we've decided on a great blue wall colour for liam's room and i don't want him to feel like baby 2 is getting the same as him.  he needs to feel special.  instead i think something like this is pretty fun.  love green and love orange.

via
great storage and organization.  i'm sure it could look this neat and tidy for a little while right?

via
so pretty.  i love the sheers and the panels on the walls.  definitely white furniture.

via
fun art for the walls.  something i'd like to do for either gender.  i'll just get fabrics to match the colours in the room and bam.  inexpensive, creative and one of a kind pieces of art.  i think it's just the little touches like this that makes a nursery feel cozy.
