on tuesday we had our first ultrasound and got to see baby 2 for the first time. it was a relief to see that yes there was a baby and yes there was only one. we've been getting comments from pretty much everyone around us "wouldn't that be funny if you were having twins?" no! it would not be funny. don't even joke about that. i guess people thought that because i was so sick during the last seven weeks and that i look about 5 months pregnant already, i must be having twins. thank god we are not. i don't think i could handle being out numbered. at least with two there is an even parent to child ratio.
the other night i came across this
blog. not only were her weekly blackboards gorgeous, it was also genius. i wish i wasn't so artistically challenged. also i loved how she used the same set of questions each week throughout her pregnancy. kinda' keeps things consistent. i'm going to start doing the same from now on. i'm just finding it hard to actually remember where i put my keys let alone the important pregnancy milestones each week. so here goes:
how far along? 13 weeks, 3 days
total weight gain: up 4 lbs for the first trimester. weighed 138 at my first weigh in last thursday.
maternity clothes? a few tops because they hide the bella-band better, normal jeans with bella-band
stretch marks? nada
sleep: wish i could all the time. i look forward to going to bed as soon as i wake up in the morning. should get better soon.
best moment this week: got to see baby 2 for the first time at our ultra-sound on tuesday and heard babe's heartbeat on thursday (160 bpm)
miss anything? beer, i've had an unusual craving for a damn good beer. wasn't a huge beer drinker before, liked it well enough. but i'd give my right arm if it meant i could have one right now. i've got quite a few months to go before that one happens.
movement: nope, it's probably gas. but baby was a mover and shaker during the ultrasound
food cravings: cereal, especially chocolate cheerios, cantaloupe and egg salad sandwiches
anything making your queasy or sick: poultry was, it might be changing. fish, definitely fish.
gender: unknown, still a few weeks away
labour signs: not for a while yet
symptoms: nausea is letting up. hurray for the second trimester! heartburn has set in, even water triggers it. bring on the extra strength zantac.
belly button in or out? in
wedding rings on or off? wedding and engagement ring on
happy or moody most of the time? happy. but i think this is a result of not be nauseous anymore. i mean really who could be happy when you feel like you're going to lose your cookies at any and every moment of the day?
looking forward to: finding out baby's gender and starting to feel baby kicks.
