the blogger 411

i came across this on a couple of the blogs and follow and wanted to join in the fun.  the original post went out yesterday from mrs to mama, but whatev's, we were busy celebrating a birthday with our little two year old dude.

1.  how long have you been blogging?  And what go you started on blogging?

i started blogging in may of 2011.  i found that i just wasn't all that great at keeping up with remembering my son's, liam, milestones.  i also found that it was a great creative outlet and a place where i could share our family with far away friends and family.  it has become a great way to document our life, love going back to old posts and re-living those moments.

2.  did you go to college?  If so where, and what did you study?

i went to the university of calgary and the university of alberta.  i have a bachelor of arts in history and a bachelor of education.

3.  where have you traveled?

in 2006 my husband and i backpacked through europe for six weeks.  we've also traveled to the maldives and singapore for our honeymoon.  and our last big, big trip was to south america in 2009 and we backpacked through argentina, peru, ecuador, with a stop in the galapagos islands.  i've also been to many places in the states and canada.

4.  what is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?

i love hanging out with my girlfriends.  we all have children now so if we do get together is it usually with our kids in tow.  unfortunately there really isn't much time for visiting and getting caught up, it's more about the kids.  i savour the time we have when we do get together just the moms and no kids.

5.  if you could have a $10, 000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?

hands down either anthropologie or j.crew.  anthro just came to calgary a little over a year ago and we still don't have a j.crew.

6.  what day would you love to relive again?

there are a couple and it would be hard to choose just one.  first, the day my husband proposed.  it was at versailles in france ... on my birthday.  second, the day i married my best friend (and now husband).  or third, the day my son was born.  very soon i'm sure that i'll have a fourth day to relive, we are expecting the arrival of our little baby girl at the end of august.  : )

7.  show us a picture from high school.

this was from my high school graduation.  we were being super cheesy.

8.  if you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?

this is a hard one.  there are so many places on my list.  instead of choosing just one place i would choose one continent.  i have my heart set on travelling through africa.  kenya, rwanda, south africa, mozambique, swaziland, you name it.  i would take an entire year to experience africa.  maybe one day.

9.  show us the most current picture of your family.

10.  where do you see your life 5 years from now?

possibly living overseas for a year.  through the school board i work for i can take a sabbatical for a year after four years of reduced salary.  the husband and i have been contemplating taking the kids to europe for a year to live and travel.  maybe somewhere in the south of france.

thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out some other bloggers

happy two years old

dear liam,

today is your birthday!  two years ago at 7:30 on this morning we welcomed you into our world and you changed our lives forever.  forever the better.  you have made our world happier then we ever thought possible.  full of more life and adventure than we ever thought possible.  and have given us more joy and love then we ever truly thought existed.

on this day i want you to know how much you are loved and cherished.  and that everyday you grow more special to us than the last.

happy birthday my little potato, my farf-e-nugan, my liam.

week number thirty-three

this has been a very very very very long week.  it has been smokin' hot here in the west and although i know that i shouldn't complain about the heat it totally sucks when you're eight months pregnant.  there were a few nights when i actually couldn't cool down and had beads of sweat dripping from places i didn't know even sweat.  hot weather like this isn't unusual, but it is when it lasts for an entire week straight ... not even a thunderstorm was insight to cool things down.  just heat, heat and more heat.  i know that in six months i'll be cursing the day i complained about the heat, because i'll be complaining that it's minus thirty degree and blizzarding outside.  just the way it goes.

how far along? thirty-three weeks
total weight gain:  went down a pound this week to 166.  but i think the belly got bigger.  my pants are starting to no longer be comfortable and actually feel constricting
maternity clothes?  currently the only clothing items that fit the ever growing baby belly.
stretch marks?  zero!
sleep: it is hit or miss these days.  the way i figure it i'm just getting prepared for the sleepless nights that await me in the very near future.
best moment this week:  hanging out at our friends cabin.  although liam had meltdown after meltdown (welcome to the two's) we still had an absolute blast.  i loved watching him explore everything!
miss anything?  pretty much everything non-pregnancy related.  i'm really looking forward to being finished with this pregnancy and meeting our little girl.  maybe it's because i know it will be the last time i will be pregnant ... i'm not one who loves the whole pregnancy thing and i haven't been shy about it.  i love the amazing reward at the end, but i could do without all nine months.
food cravings:  not really anymore, actually my appetite has decreased significantly.  i can't fit big meals in my body anymore ... no more room.
anything making your queasy or sick: still having heartburn so if i don't have tums handy then i don't feel to great, but otherwise nothing.
gender: girl
labour signs: tons of braxton hicks and they're starting to feel like they are getting stronger and stronger.
symptoms:  this past week with the heat came the super swelling.  it looked i had hobbit feet for the majority of the week and my fingers felt like little sausages.  cooler weather is in our forecast.  hurray.
belly button in or out? in
wedding rings on or off?  rings have spent the majority of the week on our dresser instead of my fingers.
happy or moody most of the time? kind of so-so this week.  i was uncomfortable due to overheating and not sleeping very well.  but i did take a nap everyday when liam went down so i think that helped with the potential for moodiness.
looking forward to:   liam's second birthday is tomorrow!!  we're keeping it low key this year and only doing a family party.  we just have too much on the go with starting to pack up the house and me being super preggo.  doesn't matter though, it's still going to be special for him and us.
